Veteran's Day - Hi Dad

My dad, Parke V.V. Kent, was a radio man in the Army/Air Force during World War II. The plane he was on made many runs over Germany until it was finally shot down and my dad spent a year in a German prisoner of war camp. During that time he made and hid a radio so he and his fellow detainees could try to find out what was really going on with the war. When the tides turned against the Germans, his guards actually considered killing all the prisoners in the camp so they could not tell anyone what it had been like. Fortunately, there wasn't time and he was returned home to recover. I want to say how proud I am that my father served his country and fought for freedom for us and others.

Thanks for sharing the story. I knew his plane went down but I didn't know what happened after, other than that he lived. I hope you'll share more stories so that I find out more about our family.

I guess I forgot to ask questions as a kid, although I did wonder about stuff. :)
